The chipping process in a wood chipper can be compared with a pair of scissors. If one or both of the cutting edges are worn, the scissors can not cut!
the pair of scissors can´t cut either if the screw that holds the edges are loose. This example corresponds to the distance between knife and counter steel, which is a vital factor for the wood chipper.
Blunt and worn knives together with rounded counter steel and too big a distance between knife and counter steel is the worst situation, if a high chip quality is needed and an economical and problem-free chipping.
