Wood Chipping - Effective and EasyWood Chipping - Effective and Easy

Bøgedal Forestry, which are based in Jutland Denmark, deal with various forestry tasks.

As an example they manage all the cutting down and clearing for the Road Directorate in conjunction with the establishment of a new motor-way. Furthermore, they manage various forest maintenance and general clearing jobs for local communities as well as private households all over the country.

The trees, which are cut down, are chopped into chips, and 95% of the chips Bøgedal Forestry produce, are sold onto the big heating-plants around the country.

The owner, Finn Bøgedal, was in spring 2006, after a wood chipper which was able to cover the needs in regard to high capacity, uniform chip quality and not least, efficient feeding of trees which often have a trunk thickness of more than 35 cm

The choice fell on a TP 400 wood chipper from Linddana A/S, because it can take trees right up to 40 cm in trunk-diameter. For Bøgedal Forestry this means that the pre-cutting is considerably reduced as to the chippers powerful in-feed rollers and the output is considerably increased

”It surprises us what the chipper can manage” Finn Bøgedal and Anton Vilsborg declares concurrently. Anton Vilsborg is machine driver at Bøgedal Forestry. He continues; ”Even when chipping white spruce, where the branches are very starch, the TP 400 feeds the branches without any problems”.

The new knife-system, which consist of 4 smaller knives that are staggered in relation to each other, means that change of knives are simple and they are also easy to handle because of the size.

Further, the TP 400 is as standard mounted with a stress control system, which prevent overload of the tractors engine and which also gives one, among other things, the possibility of checking the rotation speed of the feed rollers and monitoring the rotation speed of the rotor disc.

Bøgedal Forestry utilize together with the TP 400 wood chipper a Fendt tractor type 924.

“The view from the tractors cabin is good, because the crane is placed to the left of the cabin, and I can follow the wood when it is fed into the chippers funnel” Anton Vilsborg claims. And he knows what he is talking about, as he has tried many different types of wood chippers over time.

In regard to the quality of the chips, this is very consistent and perfect for heating purposes.

The wood chipper is fitted with so-called “sliverbreakers” which are mounted so that branch edges are “knocked” to pieces before they fly through the extended ejector spout, which is placed across the tractor, and afterwards delivered directly into the high tip dumper.

”The TP 400 wood chipper works very convincing. Have the slightest problem occurred, Linddana A/S have been quick to rectify it, so that we were able to finish our work and hereby retain a constant capacity, which is important for our business and especially for our customers” Finn Bøgedal concludes.

The TP 400 wood chipper was developed because of the markets increasing demand for a powerful and reliable chipper which produces high quality chips for heating purposes.

Linddana A/S finished the development of the powerful chipper in spring 2006 and since then, there are sold 5 TP 400 wood chippers around Europe.
